The process of receiving healing for God
According to the bible, healing is not just a cure. It is much beyond than just physical cure. If you got a headache or pain in your body, you normally visit a doctor and take medicine. But when we come to our Lord Jesus Christ, we receive physical as well as spiritual healing too. Jesus Christ bore our sufferings, our pains on the cross. He shared his precious blood which was his life for you and for me. He never shared his blood just for our healing. He mainly shed his blood for our salvation, which means a healing of our total personality. The Lord Jesus Christ does not want to heal you only from your headaches, your backache or your physical infirmity. He wants to heal you through and through in your spirit, in your soul and in your body and in your relationship. Basically, He wants your life to be completely transformed in true holiness for God.
At times when people fall sick in their bodies, they start having various problems. These problems are mainly deep rooted spiritual problems. People even go the extent of telling God: “Lord, why are you not healing me? Why are you not prospering me and blessing me?” When God hears your speech, he will answer you back by saying, “Check your heart. Check your relationship with me.”
The Lord says in Isaiah, chapter 59 verse 1 and 2 “You think the arm of the Lord is too short to heal? Also his ears are shut to your cries? No, it is your inequities, your sinfulness that has separated me form you. Because of your sin, I hide my face from you.”
When you and I come to the Lord Jesus Christ and we ask for healing or any blessing or any favor, at that time we come on the basis of our covenant relationship to the Lord Jesus. We come to Him and God relates to you on the basis of His covenant that He made with us through the blood of his son Jesus. That covenant is an agreement or it’s a deal which God made with us. As marriage is a covenant and both the partners have to be faithful to one another, same is our relationship with God. When we come to the Eucharistic celebration and partake his body and drink his blood, we come on the basis of His covenant. Jesus says, “This is the blood which is shared for the forgiveness of our sis. This is the blood of the new covenant”. Every time we to the Eucharist celebration, that covenant is being renewed and strengthened. So when ever you and I pray for healing, we pray on the basis of that covenant.
Many a times, God heals the non Christians or unbelievers because of his mercy. But when God relates to you and me as Christians, he relates to us on the basis of the covenant and if we break that covenant by our sinfulness, by our rebellion, by our unrepentant heart, God cannot heal us and cannot bless us. Remember, God is bound to His Word. When God speaks his Word, His Word is just not a law for only you or for me. It’s a law also for Him AND God will never transgress his own law. Some time, we feel we can butter God by saying, “Lord please, I beg of you.” No, a human pleading will never change the heart of God. It is only when you repent, God will hear you. That is what the Lord wants us to understand. He wants us to have a changed heart. A changed heart for not just having a blessing or a healing but a changed heart because we truly love Him.
